People of the capital Patna have been looking forward to the metro for years. This project can prove to be a major relief for the city amid traffic jams and rising congestion. Currently, a trial run has started on the 800 meter long track, during which the technical and safety standards of the train are being investigated.
A team of experts is keeping a special look at speed, braking system, power supply and safety equipment. After the successful trial, the metro will be launched on the elevated track.
Possibility of inauguration on 15 September
The first plan was to inaugurate the Patna Metro on 15 August 2025, but the work could not be completed on time. It is now discussed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi can inaugurate Purnia Airport during the visit to Bihar on 15 September.
In the same program, he can also start Patna Metro. The first phase of the metro is named Red Line, which will run from New Pataliputra bus terminal to zero mile, Bhootnath, kheemanichak and Malahi Pakri. This will provide direct connectivity to the major areas of the city.
Preparations for the operation of metro complete
According to the information, special distribution transformers installed at different stations will be supplied. This will run AC, lift along with other electric machines at 440 volts. Also, two power transformers will convert 132 kV line to 25 kV. In this way, preparations have been made to operate the metro regularly with the trial of the metro.
What will be the metro fare
Apart from this, in the first phase, Patna Metro New Pataliputra bus terminal, zero mile, ghootnath, khemanichak and Malahi will be run in the first phase. People will have to pay 15 rupees to go from one station of red line to another. Whereas to reach the rest of the stations, maximum Rs 30 will be fare. However, it has not yet been officially announced.
This is how ticket will be found
To get a metro ticket, ticket vending machines will be installed at all the five stations of the first phase, the cost of which is 2.89 crore. The process of agency selection has started by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. According to the information, this machine will get the facility to take tickets along with cash, credit card, debit card along with cash.
