Bihar Elections: Mahagathbandhan grand meeting held at Tejashwi Yadav’s house

Patna, India: Preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar are in full swing. An important meeting of the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) was held on Saturday. This meeting was held at the residence of RJD leader and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav. Senior leaders of all the parties of Mahagathbandhan including the Congress were present in the meeting. According to the information, the main agenda of the meeting was to finalise the coalition strategy to counter the ruling NDA in the upcoming elections.

Agenda of the meeting

According to sources, main agenda of Saturday’s meeting were the issues of manifesto of Mahagathbandhan. The alliance will have common manifesto where all party’s agenda will be incorporated.

According to sources, the common issues of RJD and Congress will be preferred in the shared manifesto. In these, the schemes of direct benefits and cash transfer will be given special attention, so that voters can be given direct profit. The possible promises included in the manifesto include giving women monthly Rs 2500 allowance, increasing social pension to Rs 1500, 200 units free electricity, gas cylinders in Rs 500, making the land-prohibition law effective and the Nishad Samaj to be included in the Scheduled Castes.

In this meeting, on the recent Supreme Court order will be discussed thoroughly and further strategy will be decided. Also, in the coming days, there is a possibility of further strengthening of the alliance, shared programmes and movements. In the meeting, it can be decided in the light of the Supreme Court’s decision, what kind of political strategy should the alliance should adopt. In addition, the outline of shared manifesto, rallies and public meetings can also be finalised.

This is fifth meeting under Tejashwi’s chairmanship

This was the fifth meeting of the Mahagathbandhan under the chairmanship of Tejashwi Yadav. The previous meeting was held on 12 June. In which it was agreed to launch a shared movement against the special intensive revision of the voter list. Under this, the ally parties had also decided to hand over the list of seats of their choice to the RJD. In the order of the same decision, the first included movement of the alliance was also held recently.

In the first meeting on 17 April, it was decided to set up the Coordination Committee and its command was handed over to Tejashwi Yadav. In the second meeting on 24 April, it was agreed to make 21 members committee and five sub-committee in the committee.

In the third meeting on 4 May, a decision was taken to form coordination committees up to the block and panchayat level. In the fourth meeting on June 12, the constituents submitted the list of their favourite seats to the RJD and the shared movement was approved.
