BBC Postpones Ozzy Osbourne Documentry Broadcast

The CSR Journal Magazine

The British broadcasting channel BBC has postponed the broadcast of a documentary, showing the last years of English singer and songwriter, Ozzy Osbourne’s life. Broadcast was scheduled for Monday on BBC One at 21:00 BST. No definite reason was given for the postponement of the one-hour film showing the rockstar’s move back to the United Kingdom and the run-up to his farewell concert in Birmingham in July. Osbourne died at the age of 76 in July this year.

On the matter, the BBC spokesperson said, “The film has moved in the schedule and we will confirm new transmission details in due course.”

The Ozzy documentary was originally conceived as a 10-part series titled Home to Roast, following Ozzy and his wife Sharon’s attempt to restart their life in Birminghamshire. But as the singer’s health degenerated, the series was converted to a single hour-long film depicting the last three years of his life.

Earlier, the BBC had described it as a “moving and inspirational account of the last chapter of Ozzy’s life, told through unique and intimate access to the whole Osbourne family, including Sharon, Jack and Kelly.”

What is the documentary?

According to the producer, Expectation, the film will be a moving account of the last chapter of the musician’s life. The documentary took three years to be filmed and will feature what makers describe as the extraordinary rollercoaster of the Osbourne family’s move back to the UK. The singer will be shown heroically battling to get fit again and performing on stage. Clare Sillery, the BBC head of documentary commissioning, said the team was honoured to film the Osbournes during this period of their lives. She also said that the film shows the enduring spirit of the English songwriter as a global icon.

“We hope it brings comfort and joy to Ozzy’s fans and viewers as they remember and celebrate his extraordinary life,” said Sillery.

Ben Wicks and Colin Barr, the executive producers at Expectation, said the film was an inspiring and poignant account of Ozzy fulfilling his dream to perform on stage one last time. “Ozzy was loved by millions around the world, not just for his music, but for his sense of mischief and his honesty, all of which we saw plenty of in the final years of his life… But one thing shone through even more brightly to us, and that was Ozzy’s intense love for his exceptional family who were by his side through it all,” said the producers to the international media.
