Badshah Commits to Create Women’s Empowerment Song Following Apology

The CSR Journal Magazine

Rapper and singer Badshah has announced his intention to produce a song focused on women’s empowerment within a four-month period. This commitment was made during a hearing held by the National Commission for Women (NCW) on April 7, 2025, regarding his contentious song, Tateeree. The hearing was led by NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, who expressed concerns about the song’s impact on the dignity of women.

Response to Controversy

During the NCW hearing, the chairperson pointed out that the lyrics and overall presentation of Tateeree were considered offensive and detrimental to women’s dignity. She expressed regret for the distress that the song had caused and urged those involved to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future. Badshah, alongside the song’s directors—Joban Sandhu and Mahavir Singh—along with producer Hiten, submitted an unconditional written apology during the session.

In the apology, Badshah conveyed his regret for the effects of the song on society. He also stated his determination to make positive contributions towards uplifting women and promoting their welfare. As a further step, Badshah has pledged to sponsor the education of 50 economically disadvantaged girls, demonstrating his commitment to social responsibility.

Prior to the NCW hearing, Badshah addressed the controversy via a video statement on Instagram. He expressed awareness of the hurt his work had caused and reiterated his connection to his roots in Haryana. In his statement, he remarked, “I never intended to say such nonsense about any child or any woman from Haryana. I come from the hip-hop genre, where songs often demean the competition, but this was never meant to disparage any woman or child.” This statement was made to clarify any misunderstandings regarding his intentions.

Action Taken by Authorities

The controversy surrounding the song led to significant measures by law enforcement. Haryana Police took decisive action by removing 857 links to the song from various digital platforms, including popular sites such as YouTube and Instagram. This action was taken following complaints about the video’s objectionable content, which was noted for portraying schoolgirls in a manner perceived as vulgar and degrading.

Such measures underline the seriousness with which authorities are addressing issues of women’s dignity and respect in artistic expressions. The quick response from law enforcement suggests a heightened awareness regarding the representation of women in media and entertainment.

Badshah’s recent commitments and the actions taken by the authorities signal a proactive approach to addressing concerns around gender sensitivity in the arts. The upcoming empowerment song aims to redirect attention towards positive narratives that uplift women and foster respect.

Future Implications

As Badshah moves forward with his plans, the music industry will likely watch closely to see how he implements his commitment to women’s empowerment. His promise to create a new song that celebrates women may contribute to a broader dialogue about gender issues in Indian society. The response from his audience and the public could also play a significant role in shaping the narrative surrounding his work in the future.

In making such commitments, Badshah not only addresses the fallout from his previous work but also seeks to engage his followers in a positive manner. This could enhance his reputation as an artist who is responsive to social issues while contributing positively to community welfare. The impact of such a song could prove to be influential, depending on its reception and the messages it conveys about women’s strength and empowerment.
