CJP Funding Controversy: Abhijeet Dipke Urges Government to Investigate Allegations

The CSR Journal Magazine

Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has responded to inquiries regarding the organisation’s funding and purported foreign connections. During a press conference in Nagpur on Wednesday, he called for an official investigation into the allegations rather than merely addressing the questions surrounding the source of the CJP’s financial support. Dipke stated, “The Home Minister should order a probe and make its findings public.”

Concerns Over Foreign Interference Raised

Reports have surfaced indicating that central agencies are concerned about potential external interference linked to the CJP movement. According to a report dated October 14, the agencies have flagged issues related to opaque funding and coordinated disinformation campaigns. Senior advocate and former Solicitor General Harish Salve has also expressed concerns about possible foreign funding, suggesting that foreign entities might be attempting to instigate political instability in India, drawing parallels to situations in Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.

It is important to note that these allegations and concerns have yet to be substantiated as facts. The discussions surrounding the CJP’s funding and its alleged foreign ties remain speculative at this stage.

On the same day, Dipke visited Deekshabhoomi, a significant site linked to Dr B R Ambedkar’s conversion to Buddhism. His visit coincided with Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din, commemorating the day Ambedkar embraced Buddhism along with thousands of followers on October 14, 1956. This visit appears to be part of his broader engagement with the community amid the ongoing scrutiny of the CJP.

Restrictions on Protests Criticised by Dipke

During his interaction with the media, Dipke also commented on recent actions taken against CJP protesters. He accused the authorities of implementing stringent measures against demonstrators, asserting that even displaying the national flag has resulted in severe repercussions. Dipke characterised the current climate as an “unofficial Emergency,” claiming that the Centre is infringing upon democratic protests and constitutional rights.

He further argued that the extent of these restrictions is unprecedented, suggesting that even during the Emergency declared by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975, such measures were not as severe. These statements reflect Dipke’s discontent with the government’s approach to handling protests and dissent.

Amid the controversy, American singer Mary Millben has also alleged that the CJP receives financial backing from US-based donors who are critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a post on X, Millben claimed that these funds are being utilised to support activities that could destabilise India. She encouraged Indian youth to engage in peaceful protests against the CJP. However, Millben did not provide any evidence to support her claims regarding foreign funding or overseas support for the organisation.

Ongoing Scrutiny of CJP’s Funding Allegations

The allegations surrounding the CJP’s funding and potential foreign links remain unproven. Despite the controversies, Dipke has reiterated his challenge to the government to conduct a formal investigation and publicly disclose the findings. As the CJP continues to face scrutiny over its protests and activities in Delhi, the situation remains fluid, with various stakeholders closely monitoring developments.

In conclusion, the ongoing debate about the CJP’s funding and its alleged foreign connections highlights the complexities of political discourse in India. As the organisation navigates these challenges, the call for transparency and accountability remains a critical aspect of the conversation.
