Ahmedabad Student Allegedly Rapes Classmate, Demands Rs 14 Lakh in Gold Over Leaked Photos

The CSR Journal Magazine

A college relationship in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has allegedly escalated into a serious case involving rape, extortion, and theft. A female student has accused her male classmate, Hardik Panchal, of repeatedly engaging in sexual acts against her consent and subsequently threatening her with the release of intimate photographs. The woman’s complaint depicts a distressing account of manipulation and coercion over an extended period.

Panchal reportedly convinced the student to enter a relationship by promising marriage, which allowed him to gain her trust. According to the allegations, the relationship began in December 2025 when they were both in the same college class. Following this, he is said to have taken her to hotels where he sexually assaulted her without her consent on multiple occasions, beginning in March 2026.

Alleged Extortion and Blackmail Tactics

Subsequent to the alleged assaults, Panchal reportedly sought financial assistance from the woman, claiming his father had experienced losses in the textile business. When she declined to offer support, Panchal allegedly resorted to threats, stating that he would make her intimate photographs public if she did not comply with his demands. This manipulation forced the woman into a vulnerable position, leading her to relinquish valuable gold jewellery belonging to her elder sister.

Between June 7 and August 12, 2026, the woman is said to have provided Panchal with 144.51 grams of gold jewellery, valued at over Rs 14 lakh. Panchal allegedly sold the items, assuring the woman that he would have new jewellery made to replace them. This deceitful arrangement heightened the woman’s fear and distress regarding the potential exposure of her private images.

The situation came to light when the woman’s sister checked the family’s gold storage and noted that several ornaments were missing. Upon questioning, the woman revealed that she had given the jewellery to Panchal. Following this, her father attempted to confront Panchal directly to seek clarity about the missing valuables, but was met with vague responses from both Hardik and his parents.

Police Investigation Underway

Faced with continuous threats and the absence of her jewellery, the woman eventually sought help from the police, resulting in the registration of an FIR at Nikole police station. Authorities have commenced a formal investigation into the allegations. Police inspector SA Desai noted that a panchnama has been conducted, and the woman’s medical examination will also form part of the inquiry.

Desai confirmed the details of the case, emphasising the seriousness of the accusations against Panchal, who is reportedly residing in Amraiwadi and is now absconding. Efforts are being made to apprehend him, as the police continue to gather evidence and testimonies related to the reported incidents.

This incident highlights a disturbing pattern of abuse and exploitation among students, raising pressing concerns about safety and consent in educational environments. The police are resolute in their efforts to bring justice and support to victims of such offences as the investigation progresses.
