Actor Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif All Set to Reunite in ‘Raajneeti 2’

Director Prakash Jha is preparing to bring back actors Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif for a sequel to his acclaimed 2010 film ‘Raajneeti’. Jha stated that like its predecessor, the sequel will also draw inspiration from the ancient Indian epic, the Mahabharata.

Jha revealed that the script for ‘Raajneeti 2’ has been finalized, emphasizing that the time is ideal for the sequel. He expressed that there is a wealth of new narratives to explore that go beyond the original storyline.

Returning Cast Members

The upcoming film is anticipated to feature a star-studded cast, retaining many prominent actors from the first installment. Alongside Kapoor and Kaif, the film is expected to see the return of Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee, and Naseeruddin Shah. Kaif, who has taken a lengthy maternity break, is expected to make her comeback with this project.

Legacy of ‘Raajneeti’

The original ‘Raajneeti’ achieved significant acclaim, breaking records and establishing a notable legacy in Indian cinema. Kaif’s portrayal of a character inspired by Sonia Gandhi was a pivotal part of the film’s success, showcasing her depth as an actress beyond her previous glamorous roles.

Jha has often highlighted that ‘Raajneeti’ featured a remarkable ensemble, comprising numerous National Award winners. He expressed particular pride in Kapoor’s performance, indicating he had high hopes for Kapoor receiving a National Award for his role as an educated heir to a political family, who must confront family obligations upon returning home.

The director remarked, “This film elevated Ranbir’s career to new heights. Each actor delivered outstanding performances, and this was largely due to the exceptional talent within the cast, including the likes of Naseeruddin Shah, Nana Patekar, Manoj Bajpayee, and Ajay Devgn.”
