17-Year-Old Student from J&K Establishes AI Startup Valued at Rs 5 Crore in Six Months

At a time when many of his peers are concentrating on board examinations and college applications, 17-year-old Imran Chaudhary from Jammu and Kashmir has successfully launched an artificial intelligence (AI) startup valued at Rs 5 crore within a mere six months. As a Class 12 student hailing from Doongi village in Rajouri district, Imran is the founder of Lagnever Technologies Private Limited, aiming to enhance educational experiences through technology.

Overview of Lagnever AI and Its Offerings

Lagnever AI is an EdTech platform designed to facilitate personalised and accessible learning for students. The application, which is aimed at complementing traditional classroom instruction, boasts a suite of tools including AI-powered study assistance, automated note-taking, quizzes, clarifications for doubts, and career guidance. Imran has indicated that the platform is particularly beneficial for students who have limited access to quality educational resources.

Since its launch, Lagnever AI has reportedly achieved over 10,000 downloads, signalling a strong interest among users. Imran’s vision for the app is to enable students to learn more efficiently while supporting educators rather than replacing them. This dual approach enhances the educational environment by leveraging technology to enrich the learning process.

Imran leads a dedicated 12-member team, which he credits as central to the company’s development. He noted that growing up in a remote area with minimal resources inspired him to independently learn about technology and apply that knowledge in creating an impactful educational tool.

Investment Interest and Global Recognition

Imran’s entrepreneurial venture has garnered attention from potential investors, who have been approaching the startup with various investment opportunities. This influx of interest reflects the growing recognition of Lagnever AI’s potential in the rapidly evolving education technology sector.

Beyond its domestic accomplishments, Imran’s innovation has attracted international recognition. He has been selected for a global founders’ programme associated with BlackRock, which invites only 60 young entrepreneurs from around the world. This selection not only highlights his efforts but also showcases the entrepreneurial potential of emerging individuals in the tech industry.

Balancing Academics and Entrepreneurship

Despite the challenges of managing a startup and studies simultaneously, Imran has managed to maintain strong academic performance. He achieved an impressive 89 per cent in his Class 11 examinations and anticipates performing similarly in his Class 12 board exams. Imran expressed that, while he dedicates significant time to his entrepreneurial pursuits, he has no regrets regarding his commitments.

He has articulated a clear understanding of his career aspirations and believes that the practical skills he is acquiring through his entrepreneurial experience are invaluable. Imran views the combination of academic knowledge and hands-on experience as crucial in shaping his future, reinforcing the idea that entrepreneurship can coexist with formal education.
