Western Railway Earns Rs 1.72 Crore from Film, Ad Shoots, Surpasses Last Year’s Rs 1.64 Crore Record

Western Railway has reported an unprecedented income of Rs. 1.72 crore generated from film and advertisement shootings conducted on its premises during the period from April 1, 2025, to February 15, 2026. This figure surpasses their previous record of approximately Rs. 1.64 crore achieved during the financial year of 2022-23, marking a notable achievement for the railway zone.

Pioneering Film Shoots on Vande Bharat

The Vande Bharat Express, launched in February 2019, has recently gained attention in the film industry, particularly with director Shoojit Sircar being the first filmmaker to utilize the semi-high-speed train as a shooting location. The ad shoot for an FMCG brand by Reliance Consumer Products Limited was released digitally in May 2024, showcasing this modern marvel of Indian Railways.

Streamlined Process for Filmmakers

Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, noted that the railway has dispelled the notion that government procedures are cumbersome. He explained that there is a single-window clearance system in place for film shoot approvals, allowing easy access. Applications can also be submitted via the India Cine Hub, managed by the National Film Development Corporation, making it unique among railway zones.

Diverse Locations for Filming

Western Railway facilitates shoots not only on trains and at railway stations but also in various railway facilities such as yards, carsheds, and administrative offices. Recent projects filmed at Western Railway sites include “Yeh Prem Mol Liya” featuring actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari, shot at Goregaon railway station, and “Maria IPS” starring John Abraham, filmed at several locations including WR Headquarters and Mumbai Central railway station.
