Teen Killed in Delhi Over Alleged Affair With Married Woman; Husband Arrested

A horrific murder unfolded in North Delhi’s Gulabi Bagh area when a 25-year-old man allegedly bludgeoned a 17-year-old boy to death with a gas cylinder over suspicions of an affair between the teen and his wife. The suspect, Mukesh Thakur, was arrested after being found next to the victim’s lifeless body, calmly sipping water.

The incident came to light late Tuesday morning when neighbors alerted police to suspicious activity at a rented flat in the Andha Mughal locality. Officers arrived around 11 a.m. and discovered a gruesome scene a young male lying in a pool of blood, with the accused seated beside him. Police said the suspect offered no resistance during the arrest.

“On Tuesday morning, Mukesh waited for his wife to leave for work… Then, around 9.30 am, Mukesh picked up a LPG cylinder and hit the victim while he was sleeping. He then sat on the bed, and was drinking water when some neighbours saw him and called the police,” said an officer familiar with the investigation.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Banthia Describes the Incident

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia stated, “The accused and the victim were drinking on Monday night. Later that night, the man saw his wife in an intimate position with the boy. He got furious and confronted the boy on Tuesday morning after his wife left for work at a toy factory in Roshanara.”

Investigations revealed that the minor had arrived in Delhi around ten days ago from Bihar. According to officials, Mukesh’s wife brought him from her native village in Haryana and had allowed him to stay with them. Police believe Mukesh began suspecting an inappropriate relationship between the two during the teen’s brief stay.

“Mukesh’s wife had brought the victim with her from her native village in Haryana on Saturday, which irked Mukesh. He was observing the victim and his wife closely for the past few days, and concluded that they were having an affair,” said a police officer.

FIR has been Lodged

A murder case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and a full investigation is underway. Police are also speaking to the wife and other neighbors to gather more details about the events leading up to the attack.

The turning point came when a neighbour, noticing blood seeping from the premises, knocked on the door and was shocked by the sight inside. “Around 9.30 am, a neighbour noticed blood in the drain outside the house. When the neighbour allegedly knocked for enquiring and the man opened the door, the boy’s body was seen lying inside after which police were informed,” an officer said.

The victim and the accused both hail from Bihar, and had reportedly been drinking together the night before the crime. Police say the crime was committed in a fit of rage after Mukesh allegedly discovered his wife in a compromising situation with the teen.

Authorities have seized the gas cylinder used in the attack and are awaiting post-mortem results to determine the exact cause of death.
