A shocking incident has come to light from a coastal town of Kerala, Alappuzha. A 17-year-old girl allegedly stabbed her mother following a heated argument over mobile phone usage. The incident occurred on Tuesday at their residence in Vadackal. The area falls under the jurisdiction of the South Police Station.

According to police sources, the girl, who is a Plus One student (Class 11), reportedly attacked her mother. This comes after the mother questioned her about her mobile phone habits. The mother sustained serious stab wounds and was immediately rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital in Alappuzha. Hospital authorities confirmed that she is currently in a stable condition.

Incident Under Investigation

Police were alerted to the situation by a phone call and promptly arrived at the scene. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the altercation between the mother and daughter escalated when the mother confronted the girl about excessive or inappropriate use of her mobile phone.

“We received a call informing us about the incident and rushed to the spot. We were told that the daughter stabbed her mother over questioning her mobile phone use. We have to confirm this,” a senior police officer said.

Mother’s Statement Crucial

Authorities have not yet recorded the statement of the victim due to her medical condition. The police have stated that the next course of action will depend on her official statement, which will be taken once her health improves.

“The woman is still recovering from her injuries. Her version of events is crucial to determine what exactly transpired. Based on that, appropriate legal action will follow,” the officer added. “The injured woman’s statement will be recorded once her health condition improves,” police said.

The teenager is currently in police custody, and officials are also investigating the psychological and domestic circumstances surrounding the incident.

A Growing Concern

This incident has raised concerns about the increasing dependency and conflicts arising from mobile phone use among teenagers. Authorities and mental health experts have repeatedly stressed the need for healthy digital habits and open communication between parents and children.
