Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday took a jibe at the ruling BJP government at the centre saying it is “ready to go to any extent of immorality to remain in power”.
The veteran leader has alleged that votes of the opposition are being openly cut in the name of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar electoral rolls, even as those alive are being declared dead.
Taking to X, Kharge wrote, “In the name of Special Intensive Revision (SIR), votes of the opposition are being openly cut. Those who are alive have been made dead. The impartiality of the Election Commission can be understood from the fact that they were not ready to tell whose votes are being cut and on what basis.”
“The most surprising thing is that the ruling party has no objection to the votes of 65 lakh people being cut. It is clear who was being benefited by this exercise,” the Congress leader wrote.
Kharge urges party workers to take out the voter list of their booth and check it closely
He urged Congress party leaders and workers across the country “To take out the voter list of their booth and check it closely. See how many people’s names have been deleted, or they have been declared dead, or they have been shifted to another booth as part of a conspiracy. How many names of outsiders are being added or where has the same Voter ID Card been added more than once.”
The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to disclose by August 19 the identity of 65 lakh voters whose names were deleted from the electoral roll. It also directed the ECI to publish details of 65 lakh deleted voters with reasons for deletion, at the office of district returning officer.
Reacting to the same, Kharge wrote, “We are grateful to the Supreme Court, which listened to the voice of the people and asked the Election Commission to make the Voter List public.”
Kharge alleges rigging in elections by ruling party
Alleging rigging in Lok Sabha elections and Maharashtra Assembly Elections, the Congress President wrote, “Rahul ji proved with statistics how the Lok Sabha seat was won by rigging. Now similar evidence is coming out in many seats, where Congress party got lead in all the assembly segments but in one segment BJP’s lead defeated the Congress candidate.”
“We have the same apprehension about the Maharashtra assembly election results. The party is closely studying such seats. When the time comes, it will be presented before the people. Because this is the biggest challenge not only for us but for the world’s largest democracy,” he added.
