Singer Mangli Issues Apology Over Controversial Song ‘Sarke Chunar’ for Vulgar Lyrics

The CSR Journal Magazine

Singer Mangli has publicly apologized following backlash regarding her latest song “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke” from the film KD: The Devil. The track, which features actors Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, faced criticism for its Hindi lyrics, with many describing them as vulgar and suggestive.

In an update shared via her Instagram Stories, Mangli mentioned that the song has been removed from all streaming platforms in light of the adverse public sentiment. She expressed her sincere regret for the unintended oversight and acknowledged the concerns expressed by listeners.

Revised Lyrics and Future Precautions

Following the controversy, Mangli stated that the creative team had already amended the lyrics. She emphasized that it was never her intention to offend anyone and expressed genuine remorse over the situation. According to her announcement, a revised version of the song, featuring updated lyrics, is expected to be released later today.

Mangli also assured her audience that measures are being implemented to avoid similar issues in the future. In her note, she conveyed her gratitude to the filmmakers and music director Arjun Janya, expressing her respect for his work.

Escalation of the Controversy

The backlash surrounding the song intensified earlier this month when viewers criticized the Hindi version for its ambiguous meanings. The lyrics were condemned for suggesting sexual connotations before transitioning to a metaphor involving an alcohol bottle. As a response to these complaints, the Hindi version of the song was subsequently removed from YouTube.

Lyricist Raqueeb Alam clarified that he had not originally composed the lines in question; he was contractual obliged to provide a literal translation of the Kannada lyrics written by the director Prem. In another statement, Nora Fatehi commented on the situation, explaining that she had filmed her part of the song three years ago and was unfamiliar with the Kannada lyrics at the time. She further noted that the Hindi version, along with certain AI-generated visuals, was released without her consent.
