The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has announced a new initiative aimed at enhancing the accessibility and preservation of academic documents for students in Classes 9 to 12. To facilitate this, students are being encouraged to create their Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) IDs. These digital identities will serve as a permanent record throughout their educational journey, linking them to important documents such as marksheets and transfer certificates.
Implementation and Registration Process
The UP Board has directed schools to assist students in creating their APAAR IDs and to ensure these are recorded in advance registration and examination application forms. The board aims to achieve full registration of these IDs prior to the upcoming registration deadline, which will enhance the digital management of students’ academic records. However, it is important to note that currently, submission of the APAAR ID is not mandatory for participating in the registration or examination processes.
UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh confirmed that students will not face any obstacles in completing their registration or examination applications if they do not provide an APAAR ID. This measure is believed to ensure that all students have the opportunity to register without being disadvantaged due to the new system.
Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary for Secondary Education, indicated that advance registration for Classes 9 and 11 and examination applications for Classes 10 and 12 are currently active. By utilising the APAAR ID, students will be able to securely store their academic credentials in digital format through platforms like DigiLocker, minimising the risk of loss or damage to physical certificates.
Benefits of APAAR ID for Students
The introduction of APAAR ID aims to facilitate easier access to essential academic records. With accurate details linked to their digital IDs, students may find it simpler to apply for scholarships and welfare schemes that require verified academic information. This initiative reflects a significant step towards modernising the management of educational records within the state.
The process of creating an APAAR ID involves obtaining consent from a student’s parent or guardian. Consequently, the board has requested the support of school principals, teachers, and parents to assist students in navigating the registration procedure effectively.
Practical efforts from school management are being encouraged to ensure that every student has their APAAR ID documented before the final registration deadline. While the ID is not compulsory at this stage, the UP Board views it as a fundamental component of establishing secure digital academic records for students. This initiative is designed to enhance the transparency and security of student records while decreasing reliance on physical documentation throughout their schooling.
