The CSR Journal Magazine

Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu is expecting her first child with husband Raj Nidimoru as per media reports. The speculation gained traction following her recent appearance at a celebration for the success of her film, Maa Inti Bangaaram. The 39-year-old star is reportedly due by the end of the year.

Samantha’s Battle with Myositis

Samantha first disclosed her diagnosis of myositis, a rare autoimmune disease characterised by muscle inflammation, weakness, and chronic pain, in 2022. The actress has spoken openly about the significant impact this condition has had on her life, highlighting both the physical and emotional challenges it posed. In a podcast with wellness coach Alkesh Sharotri in 2024, she recounted that the diagnosis occurred at a time when she felt she was finally able to take a break after years of relentless work.

She described the onset of her condition as a life-altering experience, requiring her to make substantial lifestyle adjustments. Samantha faced chronic pain and had to undertake severe dietary restrictions, which affected her daily life. She noted that managing the condition necessitated a complete reassessment of her health and routine.

According to medical sources such as Harvard Health, myositis results from muscle inflammation, leading to weakness and difficulty in muscle contraction. While some individuals may experience temporary symptoms, others can suffer from chronic forms of the disease, resulting in long-term complications. Chronic myositis may lead to muscle wasting and limited mobility.

Lifestyle Changes and Health Management

In addition to medical treatment, Samantha had to overhaul her diet extensively to manage her condition effectively. During promotion for Maa Inti Bangaaram, she addressed her weight loss, stating that it was not due to a lack of desire to eat but rather an inability to consume certain foods. Samantha followed a highly restricted diet, where even minor digestive issues would trigger her autoimmune symptoms.

For nearly two years, her meals were limited to bland options, repeating the same food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to avoid upsetting her gut health. This dietary discipline highlighted the drastic changes she had to implement in her lifestyle as part of her recovery.

While filming Citadel: Honey Bunny, Samantha experienced a concussion, which led to memory issues, including forgetting names. She recalled the challenging shooting conditions and emphasized the pressure to complete the project within a tight timeframe. This incident further underlined the toll her health challenges took on her professional commitments.

Reflection and Future Focus

To prioritise her health, Samantha made the decision to take a hiatus from her acting career. She expressed that this break was among the most transformative periods in her life, allowing her to reassess her personal and professional priorities. During interviews, she acknowledged that the pressures of fame had sometimes overshadowed her well-being.

Currently, Samantha is celebrating the successful opening of Maa Inti Bangaaram at the box office, which has reportedly surpassed Rs 25 crore globally. The film marks her reunion with director Nandini Reddy and features a diverse cast, including Gulshan Devaiah and Sreemukhi, amongst others.

Samantha and Raj Nidimoru reportedly married on December 1, 2025, in a private ceremony in Coimbatore. Their relationship has evolved over the years since first collaborating on the web series The Family Man 2. As they prepare to welcome their first child, Samantha’s journey continues to resonate with many as a story of resilience and strength.
