Rohit Shetty Unveils Making Video for Golmaal 5; Sharman Joshi and Akshay Kumar Join the Cast

Director Rohit Shetty marked his birthday by providing fans with an exciting update regarding the fifth installment of the beloved Golmaal franchise. Shetty shared a behind-the-scenes video on social media, giving viewers a glimpse of the film’s production while revealing some noteworthy surprises for the franchise’s followers.

Sharman Joshi’s Return to the Franchise

The video begins with crew members setting up the filming location, gradually leading to the unveiling of the cast as they arrive. Notably, the footage confirmed the much-anticipated return of Sharman Joshi in the role of Laxman Sharma, after an absence of nearly twenty years.

Joshi portrayed one of the original Laxman characters in the inaugural film, Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, released in 2006, which initiated the ongoing comedy series directed by Shetty and featuring Ajay Devgn.

Akshay Kumar’s Unique Appearance

The clip also featured a surprising appearance by Akshay Kumar, showcased in a bald look. In a light-hearted moment captured in the video, Ajay Devgn jokingly stated, “Koi franchise nahi chhodta hai ye,” confirming Kumar’s involvement in the film. Reports suggest that Kumar will take on the role of the antagonist in Golmaal 5, a significant departure from the traditionally comedic tone of the franchise.

Shetty Reflects on the Franchise’s Journey

In conjunction with the video, Shetty reflected on the legacy of the Golmaal series in his social media caption. He remarked, “20 years ago, the first Golmaal was released, a film that changed my life. The credit goes to you, my audience. Over the past 20 years, we have entertained you, and yes, sometimes disappointed you, but we have always been honest in our work.”
