Republic Day Alert: 10,000 Kg Ammonium Nitrate recovered in Rajasthan’s Nagaur, 1 arrest

In a major security operation carried out in Nagaur district, Rajasthan, a day before Republic Day 2026, 10,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, a massive number of detonators, detonating wire and blasting materials were recovered and one arrested, officials confirmed. This operation is considered to be the largest of its kind in Rajasthan’s history, after receiving intelligence about the storage and movement of explosives, this operation was carried out.

What explosive materials recovered in Nagaur?

During a press conference, the Nagaur Superintendent of Police Mridul Kachhawa shared that after receiving confirmed inputs, an operation was carried out and an accused named Suleman Khan has been arrested. Kachhawa said, “For quite some time, the Nagaur police had been receiving intelligence reports indicating that large quantities of explosive materials were being bought, sold, and stored in the district. Yesterday, the district police carried out a major operation… In the operation, one person, Suleman Khan, an accused in this case, has been arrested. A case has been registered under sections of the Explosives Act and organised crime. A large quantity of explosive material was seized from the site. This is possibly the biggest operation under the Explosives Act in the state.”

Kachhawa also shared that 10,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate has been recovered and a huge quantity of detonators, detonating wire and other materials typically used for mining-related blasting have been recovered. He disclosed that the stock of explosives has been stored at a farmhouse in Harsore village in Nagaur district.

“A total of 10,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate was seized. A large quantity of detonators, detonating wire, and other materials commonly used for mining-related blasting were also seized. The accused, Suleman Khan, is a resident of Harsore. He was storing the stock in his farmhouse. The accused has three previous cases registered against him; all related to the Explosives Act. He has been acquitted in one of them,”

Accused has prior cases related to Explosive Act

It has been confirmed by Kachhawa and his team that the accused Suleman Khan has previously been involved in many criminal cases, a total of three cases is currently registered against him and all related to violations of the Explosives Act. However, in one of the three cases, he has been acquitted. Currently, police are investigating the links to determine the source of the explosives, which is the supply chain network. Police confirmed that the security has been tightened in the district in view of Republic Day celebrations.
