Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently highlighted the significance of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, which is set to encompass twelve programmes across India in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17. The campaign is designed to embody the ethos of public service and nation-building. Singh stated that the initiative will commence with lighting diyas at the homes of beneficiaries of government schemes.

During a press conference in Kolkata, Singh remarked, “The programmes being organised under this campaign reflect the spirit of nation-building and public welfare long associated with Modi ji’s life.” He elaborated that the nationwide activities aim to celebrate and promote the values of communal service and development.

Singh further emphasised that participation in the campaign will be voluntary. He remarked, “No one will be compelled to do so; however, those who have benefited from government schemes may choose to light lamps on the Prime Minister’s birthday.” Activities such as street plays and cultural performances are also part of the planned initiatives.

Recognition of PM Modi’s Tenure and Contributions

The Defence Minister praised PM Modi’s nearly twenty-five-year political journey, highlighting the transformative impact he has had on India’s development and global standing. Singh noted that Modi’s career began as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and has evolved during his time as Prime Minister. “This journey has significantly influenced the nation’s political landscape and provided new direction to India’s development,” he stated.

According to Singh, the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan represents a steadfast commitment to engage all sections of society in efforts of service, cooperation, and public involvement. He conveyed that the core goal of these initiatives is to ensure that development reaches the underserved populations, reinforcing the nation’s collective responsibility.

Singh asserted that the ongoing progress under Modi’s leadership in governance and development is notable. He expressed his confidence that under the guidance of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, West Bengal will play a pivotal role in the objective of advancing India toward developed status.
