Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that the Indian government is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens as it enhances monitoring of energy supplies and essential commodities due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Following a high-level review meeting, Singh shared details on social media, emphasizing the establishment of an Informal Group of Ministers tasked with assessing risks related to energy supplies and the availability of vital goods.

During the meeting, significant discussions took place regarding the measures being implemented by the Indian government to manage potential disruptions. Singh highlighted the robust monitoring of critical infrastructure and supply chains in light of the ongoing situation. Prime Minister Modi’s Virtual Meeting with State Leaders

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a virtual meeting with chief ministers and lieutenant governors across the country to discuss preparedness and coordination efforts between the central and state governments. Modi urged vigilance and a cooperative approach, referencing past global events, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, which required a unified national response.

During the review, Singh outlined various measures designed to alleviate pressure on households, highlighting efforts to ensure the consistent availability of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and proposed reductions in excise duties on petroleum products. He called on states and Union Territories to cooperate closely with the central government to implement these measures effectively.

Furthermore, the Ministry of External Affairs is actively monitoring the safety of Indian nationals residing in the region, reaffirming the government’s commitment to their well-being during this tumultuous period.
