PM Modi Promises Legal Action Against TMC’s Corruption, Announces Monthly Aid for Women

The CSR Journal Magazine

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a significant pledge to compile a detailed “white paper” aimed at shedding light on alleged corruption during the fifteen years of Trinamool Congress (TMC) rule in West Bengal. This announcement, made during a large rally in Purba Bardhaman on April 11, 2025, is part of the BJP’s broader strategy as the state approaches crucial electoral contests.

During his address, PM Modi directly targeted the leadership of the TMC, accusing local ministers and politicians of systemic corruption. He stated that the BJP would ensure legal accountability for transgressions committed by TMC members over the years. “A comprehensive account will be presented, detailing the government’s record over the past fifteen years under the TMC,” he asserted.

The Prime Minister emphasised that a BJP-led government would take rigorous action to combat what he characterised as a “syndicate” operating within the TMC. This initiative is expected to be a cornerstone of their campaign leading up to the elections scheduled for later this month.

Focus on Women’s Support and Financial Commitment

In a bid to appeal to women voters, a demographic often crucial in electoral outcomes, PM Modi announced a significant financial commitment. He declared that a BJP government would provide ₹3,000 per month to women, an initiative designed to consolidate support among this key voting bloc.

PM Modi noted that the growing enthusiasm for the BJP among women at his rallies indicates a shift in public sentiment. He claimed, “Wherever there is substantial participation by women in the voting process, the BJP has received a considerable mandate.” This statement reflects the party’s belief that women could play a pivotal role in the upcoming elections in West Bengal.

The Prime Minister asserted that the allegations from the TMC, claiming that the BJP would dismantle existing welfare schemes, were unfounded. Instead, he indicated that his party aims to enhance benefits by eliminating corruption and middlemen from the system, thereby ensuring direct delivery of aid to the public.

Political Landscape Ahead of State Elections

The forthcoming elections in West Bengal are critical, with polling scheduled for April 23 and April 29, and results to be announced on May 4. The context of this election is significant; in 2021, the TMC secured a vast majority with 213 seats, while the BJP made considerable inroads by winning 77 seats, illustrating a notable shift in the political dynamics of the state.

As the political atmosphere intensifies, PM Modi’s remarks suggest an aggressive campaign strategy aimed at undermining TMC’s authority and presentation. He posited that the visible support for the BJP heightened TMC’s apprehension, leading to allegations that his party seeks to disrupt existing social welfare initiatives.

With TMC’s previous grip on power facing challenges, the BJP appears committed to leveraging ongoing concerns about governance and corruption to galvanise support. This election cycle is poised to determine the future political landscape in West Bengal as both parties prepare for a fiercely contested contest.
