On Dhanteras, Women Begin a New Chapter of Life — 14 Educated Women Start Their Own Businesses with the Support of Manthan Sanstha

The CSR Journal Magazine

On the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras, in a remarkable and inspiring initiative, 14 married women aged between 18 and 25 from the Banjaran community of Berwai village and Roopangarh tehsil began their small businesses after completing their education at the Manthan Women’s Night School.

These women, who have received formal education for the first time in their lives, are now stepping towards self-reliance and economic empowerment. They have started small ventures such as spice-making, flour mills, grocery shops, fancy stores, and tailoring units.

On this occasion, essential materials and equipment were distributed at both locations — Berwai village and the Banjaran settlement in Roopangarh — to help the women smoothly begin their entrepreneurial journey. Manthan Sanstha has provided complete support to ensure these women can establish and sustain their businesses effectively.

The event was graced by chief guests Ramchandra Thakan (Pradhan, Kishangarh), Iqbal Chhipa (Sarpanch, Roopangarh), Jeevan Bhakar (Roopangarh Block Congress President), Sanjay Malakar (Operations Head, Manthan Sanstha), Pusha Ram (Manthan Sanstha), Gordhan Prajapat, Devi Lal Meena, Vimla Kalbeliya, and Sintu Kalbeliya.
All guests praised the women’s initiative towards self-reliance and extended their best wishes for their bright future.

Mr. Sanjay Malakar, Operations Head at Manthan Sanstha, said,

“This marks a new chapter in these women’s lives. They are now becoming self-reliant and earning their own income. Earlier, we initiated a similar effort in Berwai village, where women have now not only become independent but also started a small micro-finance self-help group that has transformed their lives.”

Four women — Haseena, Rekha, Sunita, and Anita — who began tailoring units, shared their joy, saying,

“Education has changed our lives. From today, we can support our families. We will continue to study and move forward.”

Sajni, who has started a spice-making business, expressed,

“I’m very happy to start a new venture on the auspicious day of Dhanteras. With Goddess Lakshmi’s blessings, I hope my work grows and I earn well.”

Manthan Sanstha continues to empower rural women through education, skill development, and livelihood opportunities — helping Rajasthan’s rural communities move toward a life of self-reliance and dignity.

Kishangarh Pradhan Ramchandra Thakan praised Manthan Sanstha’s efforts, saying,

“This initiative is a path to bring marginalized communities into the mainstream. These women will now earn on their own and become truly self-reliant.”
