A man and his sister have been apprehended for allegedly posing as Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and deceiving individuals out of Rs 9.8 lakh by offering them fake government jobs. The arrest took place in Chanderi, situated in Madhya Pradesh’s Ashoknagar district, as confirmed by local police.

The accused, identified as Tripti Singh Rajput and her brother Sudhanshu Rajput, reportedly targeted individuals by asserting that Tripti held the position of Additional Director at the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department and was the head of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. They allegedly offered enticing government job opportunities, promising substantial salaries, and requested Rs 3 lakh from each victim.

The victims, unaware of the fraudulent nature of the duo’s operations, transferred Rs 9.8 lakh in cash along with important personal documents to the accused on April 7, 2025. Furthermore, they were promised to pay an additional Rs 2 lakh later as part of the arrangement.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Following a complaint filed by the victims about three months prior to the arrests, the police commenced an investigation. Acting on the orders of Ashoknagar Superintendent of Police Rajiv Mishra, law enforcement officials devised a strategy to apprehend the accused. They instructed the victims to engage the duo in discussions and lure them back to Chanderi under the guise of new job applicants.

Tripti Singh reportedly arrived in Chanderi soon after, where police laid in wait and successfully arrested both her and Sudhanshu. Alongside their arrests, law enforcement officials are also pursuing two alleged accomplices, Tanuj Baishya and Anjali Singh, who have been named in connection with the case.

Police investigations revealed that the accused were concealing expensive mobile phones and a car, which have been seized as part of the ongoing inquiry. The investigation team has also taken the accused to their locations in Bhopal for further questioning.
