“Nation First”: EaseMyTrip Withdraws Support Ahead of India vs Pakistan in WCL

The CSR Journal Magazine

New Delhi: Hours after India entered the semi-final of the World Championship of Legends 2025 along with Pakistan, sponsor EaseMyTrip pulled out. The founder of EaseMyTrip, Nishant Pitti, shared on X that his company won’t be sponsoring the championship where the two countries are involved. “Terror and cricket can’t go hand in hand,” he said. He congratulated the Indian team led by captain Yuvraj Singh for making it to the semi-finals.

EaseMyTrip Withdraws from India-Pakistan WCL Clash

“We applaud Team India @India_Champions for their outstanding performance in the World Championship of Legends. You’ve made the nation proud. However, the upcoming semi-final against Pakistan is not just another game. Terror and cricket cannot go hand in hand. EaseMyTrip — we stand with India. We cannot support any event that attempts to normalise relations with a country that promotes terrorism. The people of India have spoken, and we hear them. EaseMyTrip will not be associated with the India vs Pakistan match in WCL. Some things are bigger than sport. Nation first, business later. Always. Jai Hind,” founder Nishant Pitti wrote on X.

Apart from the sponsor, many players have also boycotted this match, including Shikhar Dhawan and Harbhajan Singh. Earlier, Dhawan had also shared a screenshot of his mail exchange with World Championship of Legends authorities, where he clearly denied participating in such a match where Pakistan is involved, owing to the ongoing tension between the two nations.

Dhawan Says He Won’t Play Against Pakistan

Earlier, while playing a match against England, Dhawan was asked by a fan if he would play against Pakistan, to which he was irritated and replied, “This question isn’t correct and isn’t asked at the right place.” He even said he hadn’t played earlier and won’t in the future.

India reached the semi-finals by defeating the West Indies. India pulled off an amazing chase of 145 runs in their first win of the season. The man of the night was Stuart Binny, with an unbeaten 50 off just 21 balls. With this win, India joined Pakistan, South Africa, and Australia in the semi-finals.
