“Malnutrition-Free Uttar Pradesh”: CM Yogi to Launch Mukhyamantri Suposhan Yojana

In a major step towards building a well-nourished Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is all set to take more initiatives. The goverment has directed the launch of the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Yojana. The Chief Minister has also ordered the setting up of Take Home Ration (THR) units in every district of the state.

A meeting with Department of Child Development

For the smoth launch of the initiactive an important meeting with the Department of Child Development and Nutrition was conducted on Saturday. During the meeting the Chief Minister reviewed its work and emphasised the need for effective implementation of welfare schemes across state.

While discussing the new nutrition scheme, CM Yogi mentioned about the Sambhav Abhiyan. He said that the Abhiyan has led to some improvement in addressing Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), continuous nutritional support is still essential.

Nutritious morning meal

According to the new plan a nutritious morning meal will be provided to all registered children aged 3 to 6 years. It will be a major support for poor families identified under the state’s Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Zero Poverty Mission. The scheme will also benefit aspirational districts and development blocks.

The Chief Minister has instructed officials to prepare a detailed action plan for the scheme as soon as possible.

Monitoring of children’s nutrition

The Chief Minister further emphasized the need for regular monitoring of children’s nutrition indicators such as stunting, underweight, and wasting. He directed that local administration, health, and child development departments work in close coordination to ensure effective implementation.

Under the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Yojana, children at Anganwadi centers will receive a morning meal that includes milk, fruits, and nutritious food items.

Promotion of Cow care

The Chief Minister also instructed that families without livestock should be provided cows under the Mukhyamantri Nirashrit Govansh Sahbhagita Yojana. He said this initiative will not only promote cow care, but also improve family nutrition through regular milk supply.

Malnutrition-Free Uttar Pradesh

Reaffirming his commitment to building a “Malnutrition-Free Uttar Pradesh,” CM Yogi called for expecting women, lactating mothers, and Anganwadi children to be provided with tasty, digestible, and quality food. He recommended incorporating local ingredients like Pratapgarh amla, millets, and jaggery in the recipe-based Take Home Ration (THR) to enhance its variety and nutritional value.

According to reports, the government is tackling malnutrition with a multi-pronged approach focusing on transparency, quality, and participation. Currently, THR is being supplied to 288 projects from 204 units in 43 districts. He directed that this supply network be expanded to all districts and that every step of the THR process. That is from production to packaging and distribution to be transparent and of high quality.
