The CSR Journal Magazine

Mohan Yadav, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, assessed the progress of the widening and enhancement activities along the Rajsi Sawari Marg on August 20, 2026. This thoroughfare runs from Kanthal Square to Sati Gate and Gopal Mandir in Ujjain and is part of the preparations for the upcoming Simhastha 2028 festival. During his inspection, he sought updates on the work plans from engineers affiliated with the construction agency involved in the project.

In addition to reviewing the road widening project, CM Yadav also examined the under-construction Collector’s Office, which is part of the broader urban development initiatives. His visit was aimed at ensuring that local infrastructure meets the requirements posed by the anticipated influx of pilgrims during the religious event.

Community Cooperation in Road Expansion

While discussing the widening project, CM Yadav acknowledged the efforts made by local residents and traders, who have reportedly removed encroachments from their properties to facilitate construction activities. He expressed gratitude towards them for their cooperation in ensuring that the project proceeds smoothly.

CM Yadav remarked on the significant role of the project in supporting the anticipated rush of devotees, stating that it is crucial for the management of the large number of people expected to attend Simhastha 2028. He noted that the festival is projected to attract between 30 to 40 crore visitors, asserting the importance of efficient road infrastructure in managing this influx.

He extended his appreciation to the community, emphasising that assistance from people of all faiths has been instrumental in the project. He believes that their collaborative spirit will enhance the city’s reputation and amenities during the world’s largest religious fair.

Details of the Development Project

As part of the preparations for Simhastha 2028, the 410-metre stretch from Kanthal Square to Chhatri Chowk will be broadened to a width of 15 metres. Enhancements include beautifying a 500-square-metre area at Kanthal Square with paver blocks. The development initiative will also include improvements to the Shri Sati Mata Gate, contributing to the overall aesthetic of the route.

According to reports, about 310 metres of the road have already undergone PCC road construction, demonstrating the project’s advancement. The cooperation of local shopkeepers and residents has been a significant factor in progressing these works, as they have facilitated the necessary modifications to their properties.

The Chief Minister’s visit to the area also included a devotional stop at the ancient Shri Chinta Haran Ganesh Temple, located near Kanthal Square. There, he offered prayers and sought blessings for the successful completion of the ongoing developments.
