“Like Being in Airlift 2″: Lara Dutta Shares Tense Experience Returning from Dubai Amid US-Iran Tensions

The CSR Journal Magazine

Bollywood actress Lara Dutta has recounted her intense experience traveling back to India from Dubai during the heightened tensions related to the ongoing Iran-United States conflict. In a lighthearted moment, she compared her experience to a potential sequel of her 2016 film “Airlift.”

Stranded in Dubai with Family

Earlier this month, Dutta shared a video on social media detailing her situation in Dubai, where she was stranded with her daughter, Saira. Following her return to India, she provided insights into the distressing circumstances during an interview.

Lara explained that she had relocated to Dubai temporarily to allow her daughter to train with a specific tennis coach, while her husband, former tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi, was working in London. This left the actress and her daughter alone in the city when the conflict escalated.

Escaping Danger in Dubai

Reflecting on the situation, Dutta mentioned the proximity of their residence to the Jebel Ali Port, which was experiencing daily bombings. Concerned for their safety, she decided to take action to reunite with her husband and family. The duo embarked on a two-hour drive to Fujairah, despite the fact that Fujairah port and its oil refinery had been bombed just a day prior, a situation she described as frightening.

In an anecdote, she expressed to her co-star Akshay Kumar that she felt as if she was part of a sequel to her film “Airlift.” The tension continued as they reached the airport, where they could hear explosions in the background. Dutta commended the airlines for their support during this stressful time, noting that her daughter might experience some trauma from the ordeal.

Other Celebrities Affected

Several other Indian celebrities were also reportedly affected by the situation in Dubai, including Sonal Chauhan, Esha Gupta, and Vishnu Manchu. While Sonal and Esha have safely returned to India, there has been no recent information regarding Vishnu Manchu’s travel plans.
