Sanju Samson, captain of Rajasthan Royals (RR), has been a point of discussion for a while, as the team is looking for options to trade the captain against other players. Fresh reports have suggested that RR has approached different IPL teams to respond on the possibilities of taking Sanju. Owner Manoj Badale is looking into the discussion.
Reports have disclosed that Badale has even given a list of players he is expecting in exchange for Samson. Like in Chennai Super Kings, Badale is interested to trade against Ravindra Jadeja or Ruturaj Gaikwad. It is believed that such a deal can be a deal-breaker as CSK isn’t willing to exchange its two important players against Samson. Another name that has come up in the discussion is Shivam Dube, however, CSK isn’t willing to trade Dube as well.
As per sources, the CSK officials aren’t willing to release any of their team players; this would make a direct swap impossible. Besides CSK, other teams are also being approached for trading by RR. Uncertainty still remains if Samson will enter the auction or not.
Samson has been with Rajasthan Royals for a while now and has led the team as captain for many seasons. He has requested to be let go and, if possible, traded, stating that he wants to take a leap in his career and move in a new direction.
In the past few seasons, there has been a difference of opinion between the team’s decision-makers and Samson. Earlier, there were news of tension regarding the release of Jos Buttler, while retaining Shimron Hetmyer. Samson had told the decision-makers that it was a mistake to let go of Buttler.
However, despite these differences of opinion, Samson has never said anything negative about the team in public. Even during a podcast with R. Ashwin, he expressed that the Rajasthan Royals setup holds great significance for him and praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the young left-handed batter who stepped in to open the innings in his place in the RR lineup.
If for some reason trading doesn’t happen, then Samson will stay with Rajasthan Royals.
