The two officials are engaged in Special Representatives talks, which play a crucial role in resolving long-standing territorial disputes.

Trade Negotiations with Gulf Cooperation Council

Following a series of talks held in Riyadh, Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Vipul met with Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, the secretary general of the six-nation bloc. The discussions centred on enhancing trade relations and expanding economic cooperation between India and the GCC member states.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, speaking from Tokyo, sought to augment Japanese investments in India. He indicated that ongoing negotiations for additional free trade agreements aim to encompass 75 per cent of global trade. Goyal noted that India is in talks with eight to nine other groups and countries, which collectively represent a gross domestic product of approximately USD 15 trillion.

These trade initiatives reflect India’s strategic approach to cementing its economic standing on a global scale. By actively engaging multiple countries and trade blocs, India seeks to diversify its economic partnerships and strengthen its position in international trade dynamics.

Political Developments in Pakistan

In parallel developments across the region, Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir travelled to Tehran for discussions with Iranian officials regarding bilateral and regional issues. Simultaneously, political tensions have escalated within Pakistan as Imran Khan’s party demanded immediate cardiac care for the former Prime Minister, who is currently hospitalised at Shifa International Hospital.
