Husband Held for Killing Wife in Prayagraj; Another Woman’s Body Found Buried in Forest

The CSR Journal Magazine

A sensational murder case in Prayagraj’s Bara police station area has been cracked after investigators uncovered that a woman’s death, initially staged as suicide, was actually carried out by her husband. On Friday afternoon, police discovered 25-year-old Sushma lying lifeless on the floor of her rented room, a knife embedded in her neck. Near the body, a message written in blood read: “I was mad, my husband is innocent.”

At the scene, Sushma’s husband, Rohit Dwivedi, was seen crying uncontrollably, initially convincing police that she had taken her own life. However, inconsistencies prompted officers to interrogate him further. During questioning at the station, Rohit broke down and confessed to killing his wife.

Domestic Dispute and Illicit Relationship Sparked Crime

Rohit, employed as a security guard, had married Sushma in 2020. Their relationship had been strained, particularly over not having a child even after five years of marriage. Tensions escalated further when Sushma learned about Rohit’s affair with another woman.

According to police, a heated argument on Friday turned violent. In a fit of rage, Rohit grabbed a knife and slit Sushma’s throat. As the knife got stuck and Sushma died on the spot, he panicked and devised a plan to deceive the police. He wrote the misleading note with her blood, locked the room from inside in a way that allowed him to exit, and then left for work. From duty, he repeatedly called Sushma’s phone and later informed the landlord to create an alibi.

Sushma’s family later filed a case against Rohit and four in-laws under dowry harassment and murder charges. Rohit was arrested and sent to jail after his confession.

Body of Young Woman Found Buried in Forest

In another disturbing incident, the body of an unidentified young woman was found buried in a deserted mango orchard in the Tharwai police station area. Children passing through the area noticed a hand protruding from the soil and alerted villagers.

Police recovered the body, estimated to be of a woman aged between 18 and 20, whose legs were tied with a dupatta. Her clothes and the condition of the body suggest she was killed recently and buried to destroy evidence.

Authorities are working to identify the deceased, while forensic teams investigate the circumstances of the killing.
