Honor Shines at MWC with Humanoid Robot and Upcoming Robot Phone

The CSR Journal Magazine

Honor, a Shenzhen-based smartphone manufacturer, is making strides into the realm of artificial intelligence and robotics. At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 held in Barcelona, the company introduced two major products: its first humanoid robot and an innovative smartphone referred to as the “Robot Phone.” The launch of the Robot Phone is set for the second half of this year, according to company representatives.

Since separating from Huawei in 2020, Honor has established itself primarily as a competitive smartphone brand, delivering devices with attractive pricing and cutting-edge hardware. Last year, the company revealed plans to invest $10 billion over five years aimed specifically at developing AI-driven devices.

During a gala event leading up to MWC, Honor showcased its humanoid robot, which performed a sequence of gestures and motions controlled remotely. While details regarding specifications, pricing, and timelines for mass production remain undisclosed, the company indicated that the robot is intended for customer service applications in the future. Notably, unlike many competitors who typically begin their robotics initiatives in industrial environments, Honor is designing its robots specifically for consumer settings.

The company’s humanoid robots are intended for three primary use cases: assisting with shopping, conducting workplace inspections, and providing companionship. This consumer-focused design signifies a departure from traditional robotics approaches commonly seen in the industry.

Features of the Robot Phone

At MWC, Honor also presented its Robot Phone, which is equipped with a remarkable 200-megapixel camera mounted on an articulating arm. This innovative camera system is capable of gestures, user interaction, and various functions, including photography. Furthermore, the camera can synchronize with music playback and respond to user gestures, mimicking head nods and shakes. An advanced stabilization system enhances video capture capabilities, enabling smooth cinematic pans that are otherwise challenging to achieve manually.

According to Honor’s representatives, the Robot Phone is designed to create a more human-like interaction with AI, featuring functionalities such as voice command recognition, subject tracking, and gesture understanding. The camera arm is supported by a micro-motor developed by Honor, which is about 70 percent smaller than current market motors. Three of these motors work together to power the arm’s movement.

During the Honor event, CEO Li Jian articulated the company’s vision concerning robotics and AI. He stated, “I believe AI must spin out… and into our physical world. This is why we create Honor robots. If the smartphone is an extension of our minds, the robot would be an extension of our hands. It connects us to a whole new world of services.” This encapsulates Honor’s ambitious approach to integrating AI with consumer technology, positioning itself at the forefront of the burgeoning robotics landscape.
