Hema Malini Addresses Family Rumors, Affirms Strong Bonds

The CSR Journal Magazine

Veteran actress and politician Hema Malini has responded to recent speculation regarding a possible conflict within her family. The 77-year-old actress refuted claims suggesting a strained relationship with her stepsons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, along with their mother, Prakash Kaur. In an interview, Malini highlighted that her late husband, legendary actor Dharmendra, instilled strong values in all their children, reinforcing the unity of the family.

“Papa hai na, papa ke liye sab karenge,” Malini stated, emphasizing the familial loyalty toward Dharmendra. She referred to the affection shared among the family members and insisted there is no negativity among them. “When Dharamji is there, where is the negativity? Dharamji was a source of love and strength, and he passed on those values to us all,” she added.

Reason for Missing Border 2 Screening

Malini also addressed her absence at the premiere screening of Sunny’s film, Border 2, despite her daughters Esha and Ahana attending to show support. She explained, “I was invited too, but I could not make it. They were very keen that I come and watch the movie.” The actress noted that her family prefers to keep their private moments away from the public eye, stating, “We don’t display all these moments in public, and why should we?”

Coping with Personal Grief

In light of her husband’s passing, Malini shared her struggles with personal grief, noting that she remains open to acting if an appropriate role materializes. “If any good film role comes my way, I will do it, kuch achcha aata hi nahi,” she remarked, expressing uncertainty about accepting projects in the OTT space. However, she confirmed her commitment to dancing as a means of maintaining her mental and physical health. She reflected on how Dharmendra enjoyed watching her performances and encouraged her to stay active and fit.

Reflecting on Dharmendra’s Legacy

Malini described the profound impact of Dharmendra’s death, stating that many who knew and worked with him are deeply affected. She recounted how people continually approach her to express their sorrow. “They keep coming to me saying, ‘Saab ki yaad aa rahi hai main saab ko chai deta tha,’” she said, indicating the shared sense of loss among those who knew him. Dharmendra’s death occurred on November 24, 2025, in Mumbai, surrounded by his family. The actor, often referred to as the He-Man of Bollywood, is survived by his two wives, Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini, along with six children: Sunny, Bobby, Ajeeta, Vijeta, Esha, and Ahana Deol.
