Gujarat has introduced a Single Window Cinematic Portal designed to simplify the process of securing film shooting permissions throughout the state. The portal was officially inaugurated by Harsh Sanghavi, the Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, on September 27, 2026, coinciding with World Tourism Day.

The initiative, developed by the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL), aims to centralise the permission process for various types of visual productions, including feature films, documentaries, web series, and advertisement films. This user-friendly platform is intended to assist filmmakers in expediting their projects.

By providing an efficient means for obtaining the necessary approvals, the portal is expected to attract both national and international filmmakers, as well as production houses and line producers looking to shoot in Gujarat.

Integration with National Film Portal

The new portal is bi-directionally integrated with the Indian Cine Hub, a national platform developed by the Government of India. This integration connects Gujarat’s film shooting permission system with a larger framework, further streamlining the permission process for filmmakers.

Training sessions have been conducted for officials from District Collector Offices and the Police Department in Gujarat. These trainings ensure that line producers and relevant personnel are familiar with the portal’s functionality and the associated permission procedures, promoting effective implementation.

By facilitating access to filming locations, the initiative aims to solidify Gujarat’s position as a prime destination for cinematic tourism. The linkage to a national system enhances the state’s visibility in the film industry.

Gujarat boasts a rich array of filming locations that include historical heritage sites, cultural landmarks, natural landscapes, coastlines, desert regions, and distinctive architectural features. This diversity is expected to appeal to various filmmakers looking for unique settings for their projects.

With the launch of the cinematic portal, Gujarat Tourism anticipates an uptick in film-shooting activities, which could lead to increased opportunities for local employment. This is particularly significant for sectors directly related to film production, such as hospitality and transportation.
