Govt Teacher Caught Travelling in AC Coach Without Ticket, Accuses TTE Of Harassment

The CSR Journal Magazine

A viral video has triggered widespread outrage after it showed a government school teacher arguing with a train ticket examiner (TTE) while travelling without a valid ticket in an AC coach of the Ranchi-Gorakhpur Express. The woman, later identified as Khushboo Mishra, originally from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh and currently employed as a teacher in Bihar’s Siwan district, was fined Rs 990 following the confrontation.

The incident occurred on October 4 when Mishra was travelling from Siwan to Gorakhpur in the 18629 Ranchi-Gorakhpur Express. During a routine check, the TTE asked her to produce a valid ticket or shift to an unreserved coach. When she failed to do so, an argument broke out, during which the woman accused the TTE of harassing her. “You are doing this to trouble me,” she said, while refusing to vacate the seat or show a ticket.

Despite multiple requests, Mishra didn’t cooperate and instead tried to divert the issue by pretending to be on a phone call. When the TTE began recording the incident, she attempted to snatch his phone. The TTE remained composed and reminded her that travelling without a ticket was illegal. Eventually, she was made to vacate the seat.

Drama Shifts to Station

The matter didn’t end there. A second video later surfaced from Deoria railway station, showing the teacher and her relatives confronting the same TTE in the presence of Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel. She accused him of misbehaving, recording her without consent, and even alleged that he had torn up her ticket, claims denied by the railway staff.

Her father and other relatives joined in, creating a scene that forced the intervention of security personnel. According to the Indian Railway Ticket Checking Staff Organisation (IRTCSO), the woman’s relatives allegedly tried to drag the TTE off a moving train and issued verbal threats in full view of RPF officials.

Sharing the video, IRTCSO wrote, “In the 18629 RNC GKP Exp, between SV and DEOS stations, a female passenger travelling without a ticket misbehaved with the TTE, and by calling her father and close relatives, attempted to drag the TTE from the moving train in front of the RPF while getting into a scuffle with him.”

Repeat Offence and Railway Staff’s Response

In the video, the woman can be heard saying, “Aap mujhe pareshan kar rahe hai. Aap mujhe pareshan karne ke udeyesh se aisa kar rahe hai.” (You’re bothering me. You’re doing this with the intention of bothering me.)

The TTE responds, “It’s not about troubling. You don’t have the tickets. Aap iske pehle bhi bina ticket ke travel ki hai. (You have travelled without a ticket before also.) You are a Master (teacher) in the Bihar government.”

The woman insists, “You are lying. I am not telling any lies.” The TTE continues, “I remember very clearly. You are a teacher in the Bihar government and you travel without tickets. And if you have any tickets, then show us.”

Shockingly, the teacher was reportedly caught again travelling without a valid ticket the very next day. She was fined and allowed to continue after paying the charges. This repeat offence has raised serious questions about accountability and discipline among public servants.

IRTCSO took to social media to condemn the behaviour and expressed concern over the safety of ticket-checking staff. They also questioned the lack of immediate and strict action despite the incident occurring in front of security forces.

Argument between Women & TTE

At one point, the woman says, “Please show me your phone. Don’t record like this.” The TTE calmly replies, “Please don’t touch me.”

The argument escalates as the woman says, “I am going. You are harassing a woman.” The TTE counters, “I am troubling you? You don’t have the ticket. I am asking you to go in sleeper (sleeper coach) and you are not going. And you are saying that I am troubling you.”

She continues, “And what will you do if I don’t leave? You have been troubling me for such a long time. I know you are recording me.” The TTE replies firmly, “Of course I am. You are not taking a ticket and then you are saying that you are getting troubled.”

Finally, as the woman picked up her bag to leave, she said to TTE, “You are a useless person.” The TTE responds, “It’s not me who is useless, it’s you. If I am calling you a useless person, you feel bad, but when you said that, it’s fine? You are a Bihar government teacher and travel without tickets”, as reported by NDTV.

Public Reaction and Debate

Social media platforms have been abuzz with discussions over the video. Many users criticised the woman for allegedly using the “victim card” to deflect from her own wrongdoing. Commenters were especially shocked that a government-employed teacher would repeatedly travel without a ticket while engaging in confrontations with railway staff performing their duties.

The TTE, in the viral clip, maintained his composure and repeatedly asked the woman to either show a valid ticket or vacate the AC coach. He reminded her that this wasn’t the first time she had been caught travelling without a ticket.

As the issue gains national attention, railway officials have promised to take the necessary steps to protect staff from such confrontations in the future.
