The CSR Journal Magazine

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has announced a temporary interruption in water services across various areas of the city on April 8 and 9, 2026. This planned disruption is being conducted to facilitate essential maintenance work, including the flushing of underground reservoirs and servicing of booster pumping stations. The initiative is part of the DJB’s yearly maintenance programme, aimed at improving overall water quality and system efficiency.

Affected Areas on April 8

On April 8, 2026, residents in several locations may experience reduced water pressure or a complete lack of supply. The areas included in this initial phase of the disruption are Sultanpuri (80 Gaj), Sector-3 Pocket-H, Sector-33 Rohini, Harijan Basti, Nizam Pur Village, Indra Jheel Colony, Garhi Randhala Village, and Sector-3 Pocket-F in Sector-25 Rohini.

Affected Areas on April 9

The water supply disruption is set to continue into April 9, affecting additional regions. To minimise the impact on residents, the DJB has advised individuals to store adequate water in advance and utilise it judiciously during the outage. It recommends staying informed through official communications for any updates regarding the situation.

Support Services During the Disruption

In order to assist residents during this period, the DJB has made water tankers available upon request. Residents can reach out to the Central Control Room at 1916 for immediate assistance. Additionally, two toll-free numbers, 23527679 and 23538495, along with local line options at Mangolpuri OHT, which can be reached at 27294132 and 27915531, are provided for further inquiries and support.

Such scheduled disruptions in water supply are crucial for the maintenance and enhancement of the city’s infrastructure. While these measures may cause temporary inconveniences, they are necessary for ensuring improved water quality, efficient distribution systems, and long-term reliability of the water supply network.

Residents are encouraged to prepare for the anticipated disruptions on April 8 and 9. By taking proactive measures and utilising available resources, the DJB aims to mitigate the challenges posed by this maintenance work. With planned tanker services and dedicated helplines, the board is committed to reducing the impact of the interruption on affected communities.
