Delhi CM Rolls out Health Information Management System for Online Health Updates

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, on Thursday rolled out the Health Information Management System (HIMS) with an aim to facilitate appointment bookings and track medical reports online. The new CM envisions that people will no longer need to queue up in front of hospital receptions. Simultaneously, 34 Aarogya Mandirs and eight Jan Aushadhi Kendras were also inaugurated.

The HIMS is based on NextGen E-Hospital software. The new management system integrates the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA ID) into one website, allowing for secure and centralized tracking of patient health data and other related updates. Gupta described HIMS as a crucial step toward transparency and efficiency in public healthcare.

“It’s a huge relief for the people of Delhi, who will no longer have to stand in long queues or run from pillar to post. Everything is going digital… The health data of the patient will now be digitally recorded, making it easier for doctors to provide continued and effective treatment. The digital platform will connect hospitals, doctors, and patients on one system,” said the Delhi CM.

Over 93,00,000 ABHA IDs have already been generated in the national capital.

Hit at AAP Government

Criticizing the previous AAP government in Delhi, the current CM said that ₹12,000 crore was invested in the name of healthcare, but nothing reached its conclusion.

“COVID came and went, but even then they could not make a single hospital operational. They left behind foundation pillars and iron porta cabins. There were no medicines, no doctors, no accountability,” Gupta said.

According to officials, HIMS will allow patients to book appointments online, access their health records in real-time, and receive digital OPD slips. The website is already live for OPD registration in 35 government hospitals and will soon expand to all public health institutions in a phased manner.

The 34 Ayushman Mandirs inaugurated by the CM are located in Shilampur, Kalkaji, Burari, Yamuna Vihar, Gandhinagar, Malviya Nagar, Shakur Basti, Paschim Vihar, Begumpur, and other locations. According to officials, the centers will offer a range of primary health services, including vaccination, maternity and childcare, wellness counseling, and yoga sessions.

The current government is also focusing on delivering results, according to Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh. “This is not a government of advertisement. This is a government that works,” said Minister Singh upon the inauguration of a new Jan Aushadhi Kendra, which will offer essential medicines at subsidized rates and will be open in government hospitals for the welfare of economically disadvantaged groups living in Delhi.
