Debt-Ridden Businessman Goes Live Online, Reveals Struggle to Afford Insulin for Diabetic Daughter Before Suicide

A 36-year-old real estate businessman in Lucknow, Shahbaz, tragically took his own life by shooting himself inside his office on Wednesday afternoon. Prior to this, he posted a heartrending Facebook live video revealing his severe financial distress and inability to afford insulin for his diabetic daughter.

In the video, Shahbaz tearfully disclosed that he was overwhelmed by debts amounting to Rs 15 crore. He also accused a business partner of persistent harassment, which worsened his mental state. “He appeared emotional and said he could no longer bear the mounting financial pressure,” police stated. His emotional appeal was a desperate request for help directed toward celebrities and industrialists.

Businessman Uses Guard’s Gun to End Life

The incident occurred around 3:30 pm near the Ring Road area. After concluding the livestream, Shahbaz reportedly sent the office security guard to buy a cold drink. Taking advantage of the guard’s absence, Shahbaz grabbed the guard’s licensed 12-bore firearm and fatally shot himself in the head. The sound of the gunshot alarmed nearby people and the guard, who returned to find Shahbaz already dead.

His family members witnessed the Facebook live and immediately contacted the police. However, by the time officials arrived at the scene, Shahbaz had succumbed to his injuries. The video has since gained widespread attention on social media platforms.

Police Confirm Suicide, Collect Evidence

Police officials, including ADCP East, ACP Ghazipur, and the Gudamba SHO, promptly responded to the call and took possession of the body, which was sent for postmortem examination. Forensic experts also collected the weapon, a spent cartridge, and other evidence from the office. According to the ADCP East, “Preliminary investigation points to suicide.”

Inspector Prabhatesh Srivastava from Gudamba police station confirmed, “A real estate businessman from Gudamba died by suicide by going live on Facebook after being upset over a loss of Rs 15 crore.” Authorities have registered a case and launched a thorough probe into Shahbaz’s financial dealings, focusing particularly on the loans he mentioned during his livestream.

Police to Question Accused Partner, Probe Shahbaz’s Finances

As part of the investigation, police are also preparing to question the business partner Shahbaz accused in the video. Shahbaz’s real estate transactions are under close scrutiny to uncover the details of his mounting financial crisis.
