Central Railway Announces Special Suburban Trains for Tata Mumbai Marathon 2026

The CSR Journal Magazine

Central Railway (CR) has announced the operation of two special suburban train services to facilitate participants of the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2026. These services will run during the intervening night of January 17 and 18, 2026 (Saturday–Sunday midnight), ensuring smooth and timely travel for runners heading to the marathon venue in south Mumbai.

Trains to Operate on Main and Harbour Lines

According to the official release, one special train will operate on the Main Line, while another will run on the Harbour Line, catering to participants traveling from key suburban regions. These services are being introduced specifically to accommodate the early reporting time required for marathon runners.

Kalyan–CSMT Special Train Details

The Main Line special suburban service will depart from Kalyan at 2:30 am and reach Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) at 4:00 am. This train will halt at all stations along the route, allowing participants from multiple suburban locations to access the service conveniently.

Panvel–CSMT Special Train on Harbour Line

On the Harbour Line, the special train will leave Panvel at 2:25 am and arrive at CSMT at 3:45 am. Similar to the Main Line service, this train will also stop at all enroute stations, providing widespread connectivity across the Harbour corridor.

Railways Urge Passengers to Use Special Services

Central Railway has requested passengers, especially marathon participants, to take note of these special arrangements and avail themselves of the facilities provided. In previous years, such special services have played a crucial role in ensuring timely and stress-free travel for thousands of runners.

Official Announcement

The press release was issued on January 16, 2026, under PR No. 2026/01/15, by Dr. Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway, Mumbai. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to supporting large-scale public sporting events through efficient transport planning.
