Women and Hospital Staff Allegedly Drinking Alcohol Inside Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital

The CSR Journal Magazine

A viral CCTV video reportedly shows hospital staff, including three women, drinking alcohol inside the emergency building of Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in Bihar. This incident has led to police action, with a First Information Report (FIR) filed in connection with the events depicted in the footage. The video has gained significant traction on social media, raising concerns regarding the conduct of hospital personnel in a government facility.

The footage captures three women and three men in a corridor adjacent to the staircase of the hospital’s new emergency building. Among them, three women and one man are seen consuming alcohol. The incident is particularly alarming given that Bihar is a prohibition state, where both the sale and consumption of alcohol are banned.

Details of the CCTV Footage and Participants

The CCTV footage reveals two women seated with cold drinks and snacks, while a third woman stands near the staircase, seemingly keeping watch. Subsequently, three men enter the frame, one of whom appears to discreetly pass a bottle of alcohol to a woman. Following this, the woman is seen preparing a drink, and shortly thereafter, three women and one man are captured consuming alcohol. Although the footage shows six individuals in total, only four are actively drinking.

One of the men visible in the video is wearing a lanyard that bears the DMCH name, indicating a potential connection to the hospital. However, the identities of those involved, along with their designations and employment status, have yet to be confirmed. The date displayed on the CCTV footage is June 9, 2026, which is crucial for the ongoing investigation.

As the video continues to circulate, it has prompted questions about the standards of security and discipline within the government hospital, highlighting the need for stringent measures to uphold the integrity of medical institutions.

Police Action and Ongoing Investigation

Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rajiv Kumar confirmed the registration of the FIR and stated that police have begun examining the viral footage. He mentioned that investigators would seek to obtain and review the complete CCTV footage to ascertain the number of individuals involved and to identify those depicted in the video. Further legal action will be determined once their identities have been confirmed.

The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are focused on establishing the roles and identities of the individuals seen in the footage. This incident has raised significant concerns regarding adherence to regulations and the overall environment within the hospital, prompting the need for a thorough examination of the situation.
