The Bombay High Court, located in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, has dismissed four petitions that challenged the results of the NEET re-test examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Each petitioner has been fined Rs 5,000 for bringing forth claims that were determined to be unfounded. The petitions asserted that the Re-NEET results published by the NTA were erroneous and that mistakes occurred during the evaluation of the answer sheets.

Court Examination of Original Answer Sheets

During the proceedings, the court took the allegations seriously and instructed that the original answer sheets of the affected students be brought from Delhi in sealed envelopes for verification. Once delivered, the answer sheets were examined by the judges, Justice N.B. Suryawanshi and Justice A.D. Shinde. The students, along with their parents and legal representatives, were also permitted to review the original answer sheets, ensuring transparency in the verification process.

After a thorough examination of the records, the court found that the results declared by the NTA were consistent with the answers recorded in the original answer sheets. The bench concluded that there were no discrepancies or errors identified in the evaluation process. This finding highlighted the integrity of the NTA’s assessment methods.

During the hearing, Rohit Sarvagya, Senior Panel Counsel representing the NTA and the Central Government, presented essential documents and records for the court’s scrutiny. His representations facilitated a clearer understanding of the evaluation process, contributing to the decisive outcome of the case.

Petitioners Face Consequences for Unsupported Claims

The decisions made by the court resulted in the dismissal of all four petitions, affirming the validity of the Re-NEET results as declared by the NTA. Additionally, the court imposed the aforementioned Rs 5,000 penalty on each petitioner, emphasising that the claims made were incorrect and lacked substantive evidence. The judgement serves to reinforce the authority of the NTA in its evaluation procedures.
