The famous Dada Boudi Biryani Restaurant in Barrackpore is all set to open a Biryani mall at Madhyamgram near Kolkata airport before Durga Puja this year. The Biryani mall will be a six storied building with Kolkata’s favourite Mughlai dish served at every floor.

Dada Boudi Biryani, a popular eatery in Barrackpore, North 24 Parganas District of West Bengal is famous and attracts food lovers and vloggers from across the world. The more than 60-year-old Biryani restaurant started by Ramprasad Saha, is now managed by his son, Dhiren Saha, and daughter-in-law (Boudi in Bengali), due to which the restaurant earned the “Dada Boudi” title.

Dada Boudi Biryani Restaurant’s Jyoti Malhotra connection

Arrested Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who is currently in judicial custody on charges of espionage for Pakistan, had visited Barrackpore’s famous Dada Boudi restaurant earlier this year and even shared videos from the eatery where she can be seen enjoying a steaming plate of Biryani! Jyoti had visited the restaurant accompanied by another travel vlogger.

Malhotra was arrested by the Hisar Police on suspicion of espionage on May 16 and she was subsequently remanded to five days of police custody by the court.

Security enhanced in Barrackpore which houses Indian Air Force Base

However, Barrackpore, North 24 Parganas — an area known for military installations and an Indian Air Force base, which made investigators suspicious about whether Jyoti’s actual purpose of visiting the place was to eat Biryani at the popular restaurant or capture footages of sensitive areas for sharing with her Pakistani handlers.

Ever since Jyoti Malhotra’s arrest, authorities at Dada Boudi Biryani restaurant have become alert and keeping an eye on travel vloggers recording videos inside the eatery, especially those coming from other parts of India and even from outside the country. In fact, after the news of Jyoti Malhotra visiting Dada Boudi Biryani restaurant hit the headlines, the administration has enhanced security across important and sensitive locations of Barrackpore, which has and IAF base.

Jyoti Malhotra denied bail by Hisar Court

Meanwhile, a Hisar court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of Jyoti Malhotra, arrested on suspicion of espionage last month. Her bail plea was heard by Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Sunil Kumar through her lawyer Kumar Mukesh. The police opposed the bail plea and argued the case’s investigation was underway. On June 9, the court extended Malhotra’s judicial custody and fixed her case’s hearing on June 23.
