Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, alongside Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, is set to lay the foundation stone for the Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub on October 2. The ceremony will take place in Madanapalle, marking a significant step in enhancing horticulture activities in the region.

Project Funding and Implementation Details

The project will receive financial backing of Rs 40,000 crore from the Central Government under the Purvodaya scheme. In addition, the initiative is expected to attract Rs 60,000 crore in private investments. The implementation of this project will span the four former districts of Rayalaseema, as well as Prakasam and Nellore districts.

The Andhra Pradesh government stated that this initiative, achieved through the sustained efforts of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, aims to boost horticulture in drought-prone areas, thereby strengthening the agricultural economy of the region. This development aligns with ongoing irrigation projects designed to secure a reliable water supply for farming activities.

The project seeks to elevate wealth generation in the region and improve the income levels of local farmers by supporting various horticulture-related enterprises.

Additional Initiatives and Educational Institutions

During the same event, the foundation stone for the Indian School of Agriculture will also be laid. This institution, which is being established by Reliance, is expected to provide quality education and training focused on agricultural practices. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance educational opportunities within the agricultural sector.

In conjunction with the horticulture hub’s foundation stone laying, Chief Minister Naidu will engage in a series of programmes and official visits that will span five consecutive days, beginning on September 29. His itinerary includes attending the DoPT Karmayogi Mission programme in Vijayawada and participating in the Palle Panduga programme at Udayagiri in Nellore district later that same day.

On September 30, Chief Minister Naidu is scheduled to distribute house site pattas to 24,000 beneficiaries in Vijayawada. The following day, October 1, he will partake in the ‘Pedala Sevalo’ programme, which involves pension distribution as part of social welfare initiatives.

Upcoming Events and Activities

The chief minister’s engagements will culminate with the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub on October 2. Following this, he will participate in the Swarna Andhra–Swachha Andhra programme. As October 2 coincides with Gandhi Jayanti, he will also be involved in the annual Swachha Andhra programme in Vijayawada, underscoring the importance of cleanliness and sanitation.

Further extending his agenda, on October 3, the Chief Minister will attend the Pan-IIT Conference in Vijayawada, which serves as a platform for promoting innovations and discussions among Indian Institutes of Technology alumni. This series of activities illustrates the government’s proactive approach towards enhancing agriculture and education in Andhra Pradesh.
