Ajmer Woman Kills 3-Year-Old by Throwing Her Into Lake After Taunts from Live-in Partner

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a heart-wrenching incident, a 28-year-old woman allegedly killed her three-year-old daughter by throwing her into the Ana Sagar Lake in Ajmer. The woman, Anjali Singh, originally from Varanasi, was reportedly distressed due to frequent taunts from her live-in partner regarding the child being from her previous marriage.

CCTV Footage Reveals Murder

According to the police, Anjali took her daughter Kavya for a walk around Ana Sagar Lake late Tuesday night. CCTV footage later revealed that she had spent several hours walking and carrying the child before being seen alone at around 1:30 AM. At the time, she appeared to be on her phone and no longer had the child with her.

Police said that Head Constable Govind Sharma encountered Anjali and her partner Aklesh Gupta near the lake during a routine patrol at around 4 AM. When questioned, the couple claimed the child had gone missing and they were searching for her. Anjali initially misled the police, refusing assistance and giving inconsistent statements.

Confession

However, the police reviewed CCTV footage which contradicted her version of events. After intensive interrogation, Anjali confessed to murdering her daughter by throwing her into the lake. She admitted that she had been under mental and emotional stress due to constant verbal abuse from her partner, who resented her child from a previous marriage.

“A woman was walking on the chaupati late at night. When a police team patrolling in the area enquired, she said her daughter had gone missing and she was searching for her. She also denied help from the police in searching the child,” the police said.

“The continuous verbal abuse may have pushed Anjali to take the extreme step of murdering her daughter,” the CO said.

Body found floating in Lake

The child’s body was discovered floating in the lake on Wednesday morning, and Anjali was immediately arrested. The police are now investigating whether her partner had any involvement in the crime, although initial findings suggest Anjali acted alone.

“He stopped and inquired about them, to which the man said he was Aklesh Gupta from Varanasi and was working in a restaurant in Ajmer and residing in Data Nagar. The woman said her name was Anjali Singh and was now living with Aklesh. The woman said that at 10pm Tuesday night, she went out with her daughter but she lost her somewhere and now they were searching for her,” the SP said.

Anjali worked as a hotel receptionist in Ajmer, where her partner is also employed. She had previously separated from her husband in Varanasi due to financial issues and had since moved in with Aklesh. A murder case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.
