Jupitice Justice Technologies has extended its technology support to Mumbai Grahak Panchayat (MGP) for launching its own conciliation & mediation centre – SAMET (amicable resolution). The Mumbai-based Consumer Association has partnered with Jupitice to launch the ADR Centre for speedy, affordable, and amicable settlement of disputes. The ADR platform was launched in the presence of Bombay High Court’s ex-Judge Justice Mridula Bhatkar, President MAT, Adv. Shirish Deshpande, MGP Chairman, and Mr Raman Aggarwal, Founder & CEO, Jupitce Justice Technologies. This partnership comes at a time when over 5 lakh cases are pending in Consumer Courts in India.
Under this partnership, Jupitice will guide and support MGP in designing and developing the SAMET platform to serve the evolving needs of various stakeholders involved in the process. With SAMET, MGP will become the first-of-its-kind consumer association to have its own ADR Platform to resolve consumer disputes across the state. The platform will register experienced and trained Mediators and Conciliators, who will try to resolve the disputes between the parties in an efficient and amicable manner.
While speaking on the launch of SAMET, Justice Bhatkar highlighted that this platform is the need of the hour given the long delays in courts. She added, “Litigation has become unaffordable to the common man. The initiative taken by the MGP would provide much-needed relief to the litigating parties”.
While emphasizing the need for Alternative Disputes Resolution, Adv. Shirish Deshpande, MGP Chairman said, “Over 5 lakh cases are pending in Consumer Courts in India and many of such cases take 20 to 25 years to settle. Even in Civil Courts, there are about 4.70 crore cases pending. Under such circumstances, SAMET – the MGPs new ADR Platform will provide an affordable, speedy and simple platform for an amicable resolution of disputes between the parties.
“The entire team of Jupitice is delighted to extend its technology support to Mumbai Grahak Panchayat (MGP) for its exclusive ADR Platform. With this collaboration, Jupitice would reach a step closer to fulfilling its vision of Access to Justice for all. This collaboration would also enable Jupitice to take its services to consumers, which are among the key target audience of our platform,” said Mr Raman Aggarwal, Founder & CEO, Jupitice Justice Technologies.
The matters pending in any Civil Court (with some exceptions) and even pre-litigation disputes can be taken up at SAMET with the consent of both parties.
