Vadodara Woman, Lover Arrested for Strangling Husband with Dupatta & Spiking Food with Poison

The CSR Journal Magazine

A chilling murder case has come to light from Vadodara, in Gujarat. Here, 32-year-old Irshad Abdul Karim Banjara was allegedly strangled to death by his wife and her lover. Initially believed to be an accidental death, Banjara’s family grew suspicious after the wife’s unusual behavior during the mourning period. These concerns led to an exhumation of the body, which ultimately confirmed their worst fears: the man had been murdered.

Suspicion Arises and Investigation Begins

Irshad Banjara passed away on November 18, 2025, under suspicious circumstances. While his family initially thought the death was from natural causes and buried him the next day, their doubts grew after noticing that his wife, Gulbanu Banjara, did not display the expected grief. Her behavior, particularly her frequent phone conversations, raised alarms, prompting the family to file a complaint with the police.

Upon receiving the complaint, police conducted a thorough investigation, which included exhuming Irshad’s body five days after the burial. The subsequent post-mortem examination revealed that the cause of death was strangulation, not a heart attack as previously claimed by his wife. The discovery of foul play led to immediate action, and a murder case was filed against Gulbanu and her lover, Tausif, as well as his accomplice, identified as Mama.

Murder Plot and Arrests

The investigation revealed a sinister plot orchestrated by Gulbanu Banjara. On the night of November 18, she allegedly poisoned her husband’s food, rendering him unconscious. Her lover, Tausif, and his accomplice then entered the house and strangled Irshad to death. Afterward, Gulbanu falsely told the family that Irshad had died of a heart attack. However, her suspicious conduct during the funeral raised serious concerns, leading to the exhumation and post-mortem confirmation of murder.

Following the exhumation, Gulbanu was arrested, but Tausif, the alleged murderer, has gone into hiding. Police are currently searching for him and his accomplice in Mumbai, where they are believed to be hiding. Investigations continue as authorities work to piece together the full details of the crime.
