In a significant development ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin announced that households in the state will receive coupons worth Rs 8,000. These coupons are intended to assist residents in purchasing essential household items such as televisions, refrigerators, and washing machines. This announcement was made during a public address on Wednesday.

Support for Students

During his address, Udhayanidhi Stalin highlighted the government’s efforts to support students, noting that laptops have been provided to 10 lakh college students under the Dravidian model governance. He stated that previous laptop distributions were focused on school students, but the initiative has now expanded to higher education as part of a broader commitment to educational enhancement.

Campaign Activities

Earlier in the day, Udhayanidhi participated in a campaigning event at the Natrampalli bus stand. He was present to rally support for DMK candidates Nallathambi, contesting for the Tirupattur assembly seat, and Kavitha Dhandapani for Jolarpet. In his speech, he urged the electorate to vote against AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, emphasizing the need for a significant defeat of the opposition across all constituencies.

Election Promises

Stalin reiterated the DMK’s commitment to various welfare schemes, including the women’s entitlement program, which currently provides beneficiaries with Rs 1,000 and promises an increase to Rs 2,000 if the party regains power. He also spoke about the breakfast initiative for schoolchildren, currently implemented for those in Classes 1 to 5, which the DMK aims to expand to include students up to Class 8 if re-elected.

Call to Action for Voters

Concluding his speech, Udhayanidhi Stalin appealed to voters to ensure strong support for the DMK candidates running under the Rising Sun symbol. He requested constituents to view his appeal not just as a political strategy but as a request from a family member of the current Chief Minister and a grandson of a former Chief Minister.
