What started as any normal busy highway scene on Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Rajasthan, turned into a tragic accident and chaos, a speeding truck broke the divider of the road and overturned on another lane. Truck driver and conductor are seriously injured and are being treated in a nearby hospital.

As per an eyewitness, the truck driver was moving in the traffic for some time, asking for a side from a car, but the car driver wasn’t giving him side. In desperate efforts, the truck driver increased the speed to overtake and lost control, rammed into the divider railing, and jumped. The site of the accident was horrifying, as the truck was for a brief period airborne before crashing on the other side of the road.

Eyewitness’ account of the accident

When the truck crashed, the sound was so loud that it was almost deafening. Travelers and onlookers were shocked by the amount of dust and the seeing the broken railing flying in the air. Seeing the tragic cinematographic scene, people turned shocked and silent for a brief period, followed by loud cry, screams for help. Thankfully during that time no other vehicle was passing by in the other lane and thus a major accident averted.

One pedestrian had just crossed the road when he saw the truck flying and approaching him, he said, “I saw the truck flying in the air. For a moment, I could see death in front of me. I thought I was gone. Somehow, I was saved. You can still see me shaking and my voice is trembling as I recall the whole incident.”

Who is responsible for the accident?

After the truck crashed on the road, people nearby rushed to check on the truck driver and conductor, after much effort they were pulled out. Both were seriously injured, bleeding profusely and in pain. Both were immediately rushed to nearby hospital and are undergoing treatment. Post the accident traffic on Jaipur-Ajmer highway came to standstill for over an hour, before the emergency teams police made efforts to remove the wreckage. Cranes were used to lift the truck that covered the maximum portion of the road.

One eyewitness while speaking to the CSR Journal blamed the driver for his reckless driving, “The truck was honking continuously and trying to force its way through. When a car did not give him side, speed up, almost killing one person. It was the driver’s fault, he wasn’t patient and resulted in this chaos.”
