Actor Sara Ali Khan may need to provide an affidavit in order to continue her visits to the Kedarnath and Badrinath Temples, as per a recent directive from the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee. During a media briefing on Tuesday, committee chairman Hemant Dwivedi announced that all non-Hindu visitors who wish to seek darshan at these revered temples will be mandated to submit an affidavit affirming their belief in Hinduism. This measure is expected to align the access protocols with the spiritual principles inherent to the temples.

Affidavit Requirement for Non-Hindu Devotees

According to Dwivedi, the requirement for non-Hindus to provide documented proof of their faith aims to ensure that all individuals partaking in prayers at the sites respect the sanctity and traditions of the shrines. “All non-Hindus will be required to submit an affidavit if they wish to seek blessings at the temples,” he stated. This new rule will be enforced uniformly for any non-Hindu devotee intending to visit either temple.

Implications for Sara Ali Khan’s Visits

Referring specifically to Sara Ali Khan, who has made frequent visits to Kedarnath, Dwivedi indicated that she would be permitted to offer prayers if she adheres to the new affidavit requirement. “If Sara Ali Khan expresses her devotion towards Sanatan Dharma and submits an affidavit, we will allow her to offer prayers,” he confirmed. Khan has established a presence at Kedarnath since filming her debut movie in the region, and she often shares insights from her spiritual experiences at the temple on social media.

Discussion on Religious Practices and Access

The introduction of this directive has ignited discussions regarding access to major pilgrimage sites and the nature of religious practices. While the temple committee described the new rule as an effort to maintain tradition, it has raised questions about inclusivity and the implications for visitors of varying faiths. The committee’s approach aims to balance spiritual integrity with the evolving landscape of religious tourism.
