A very disturbing incident that has sparked widespread outrage in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur district. Here, a group of young women were violently assaulted by several men near Mahadev Ghat. The incident occurred in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, late on Thursday night.

According to reports, the victims were returning home after attending a birthday party. However during the journey they were reportedly stopped and brutally attacked by a group of unknown men.

Video Shows Women Being Dragged and Beaten

A horrifying video of the incident has gone viral on social media. The viral video showcases a violent scuffle in an open area between both the groups. One man is seen harassing a girl who tries to resist him. Moments later, several others join in and begin physically assaulting the rest of the group.

The footage also captures one girl being brutally dragged to the ground. She is then pulled further by multiple assailants. Another woman is seen being pulled by her hair as she desperately tries to escape.

One Girl’s Finger Allegedly Bitten Off

In a particularly horrifying detail, it has been reported that one of the assailants bit off a girl’s finger during the attack. The women are alleged to be from Bilaspur and Korba. They somehow managed to reach a police station and file a complaint following the assault. The police stated that the motive behind the attack still remains unclear.

Police Register Case

The Raipur Superintendent of Police Umed Singh confirmed about the incident. He stated that the police have registered a case based on the viral video. “The assailants are yet to be identified. A case has been registered against the boys. We are investigating the matter to get details about the other party (the assailants),” the SP said.

Raipur Police are currently analyzing the video footage that has since gone viral. They are also collecting additional evidence to piece together the sequence of events and identify all individuals involved.
