A 13-year-old girl from Pune was reportedly abducted and sexually assaulted by a man she knew, who had offered her a ride to school. Law enforcement authorities confirmed the arrest of 29-year-old Dnyaneshwar Suresh Rairikar from Warje Malwadi in connection with this case. The arrest occurred following a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, and the accused has been placed in police custody for two days as investigations continue.

Details of the Incident

The alleged incident took place on February 18, between 6:50 am and 7:20 am, near Dudhane Lawns. According to police reports, the accused approached the girl as she waited outside her home. Rairikar offered her a lift to school; however, instead of proceeding to the school, he drove to a remote area where the assault reportedly occurred.

Victim’s Response and Subsequent Actions

Following the assault, Rairikar allegedly threatened the girl, instructing her to keep the matter to herself. Traumatized and fearful, the victim refrained from immediately informing anyone about the incident. Later that evening, she confided in her mother, leading the family to report the matter to the authorities.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Upon receiving the complaint, law enforcement officials swiftly registered a case and commenced a search for the suspect. The investigation led to Rairikar’s prompt arrest. A senior officer from the Pune Police confirmed that Rairikar was employed as a driver and had recently acquired a second-hand vehicle, which authorities believe was used during the crime.
