Telangana Horror: Woman Burns Alive Lover’s Wife and 6-Month-Old Baby Out of Jealousy

The CSR Journal Magazine

A horrific crime rooted in jealousy rocked a village in Telangana’s Nalgonda district on Saturday, where a 28-year-old woman and her six-month-old infant were allegedly set on fire inside their home. Police said the attack was carried out by another woman who was reportedly upset over a past relationship with the victim’s husband.

The incident occurred in Keerthipally village of Nampally mandal around late morning, triggering panic and outrage among locals.

Accused Allegedly Planned the Assault

According to police officials, the accused woman, a widow and resident of the same village, allegedly arrived at the victim’s house carrying petrol, chilli powder and a knife. Investigators said she waited for an opportunity when the husband was away at work before entering the house.

The victim, identified as Mamatha, was at home with her infant son when the accused allegedly poured petrol on both of them and set them ablaze. Mamatha reportedly ran out of the house while on fire and collapsed outside. Villagers rushed to help after hearing her screams.

Infant Succumbs to Burn Injuries

Mamatha died on the spot due to severe burns. Her six-month-old son, who suffered critical injuries, was rushed to a government hospital in Hyderabad but succumbed during treatment. Police said the couple’s elder child was not present at the house during the incident, narrowly escaping harm.

Love Triangle Angle Under Probe

Police revealed that Mamatha’s husband had been in a relationship with the accused before his marriage in 2020. After he distanced himself and settled into married life, the accused allegedly continued to pursue him and created disturbances in the village.

Authorities said village elders had earlier intervened and warned both parties to avoid contact. However, investigators believe the accused was angered by the man’s refusal to resume the relationship and had allegedly threatened him a day before the crime.

Manhunt Underway

Police have launched a manhunt to trace the accused, who remains absconding. Officials said all angles are being examined, including whether the husband had any role in the events leading up to the attack. Further investigation is ongoing.
